Enter the new wheel diameter
Enter the diameter of the larger wheel you're moving to (e.g. 18 or 19 inches). The calculator searches common tire widths and aspect ratios at that wheel size for the ones closest to your original overall diameter.

Read the best match and delta
The result shows the closest common size and how far its overall diameter is from your stock tire, as a percentage. A smaller percentage means a more accurate speedometer, odometer, and ABS calibration after the swap.

Check the alternates and presets

The sidewall height is width × aspect ratio ÷ 100, in millimeters. Doubled (top and bottom of the wheel) and converted to inches, it's added to the wheel diameter to get the tire's overall rolling diameter.

Why diameter match matters

Your speedometer, odometer, cruise control, and — on many modern vehicles — ABS and traction/stability control all assume a specific number of wheel revolutions per mile. Change the overall tire diameter enough and the speedometer reads off (usually low, since a bigger tire covers more ground per revolution than it expects), the odometer under- or over-counts mileage, and on AWD vehicles a big enough mismatch between axles can even stress the drivetrain.
Most manufacturers and tire shops treat about ±3% overall diameter change as the safe zone. Below 1% the difference is essentially unmeasurable in daily driving; above 3% you're more likely to notice speedometer drift or need to check fender and suspension clearance.
Limits and edge cases

This tool checks nominal diameter only. It does not verify rim width compatibility, load index, speed rating, or physical clearance against your specific fenders, brake calipers, or suspension travel — all of which a tire shop should confirm before mounting. Very large wheel jumps (plus-three or more) sometimes have no common size within a tight tolerance at all, forcing either a wider tolerance or a smaller wheel jump. Always cross-check a candidate size against your vehicle's owner's manual or a fitment guide before buying.

Real-world rolling diameter varies slightly with tire pressure, load, tread wear, and construction, so treat the result as a close estimate rather than an exact figure.
Why does it suggest a wider tire instead of the mathematically closest size?+
Among sizes within your tolerance, the calculator favors ones at least as wide as your original tire, since that's what "plus sizing" means in practice — a bigger wheel with a wider, lower-profile tire. A narrower tire at the same aspect ratio can sometimes match the diameter even more closely, and those options still appear in the alternates list if you want to consider them.
What if no size fits within my tolerance?+
